On February 20, 1933, the Twenty-first Amendment was proposed in Congress. It would repeal the Eighteenth Amendment, which mandated nationwide prohibition. The above image is the jaunty, dipsomaniacal cover for a set of sheet music. Published in 1931, it now resides in the Newberry’s Driscoll Collection, home to 80,000 pieces of musical notation and ephemera.
